The Star 10/10/09 at page N32 reported “Birth certs (B.C) best Deepavali gift for widow and her twins. But what about this (B.C) best Deepavali gift for the rest of the estimated 149,998 Indian childred who have been denied their birth certificates by UMNO. Why are they detstined to have a bleak Deepavali just because their birth registration was registered after the 45days as is the requirement largely due to poverty and poverty related problems.

This is a mere technicality which UMNO can solve merely by the stroke of their pens. Instead UMNO gets their lowest level counter staff at National Registration Department to either make it difficult, reject, delay or just sit on all these estimated 150,000 Indian B.C applications for 10,20,30,40.50 or even 60 long years. By being denied their birth and innate rights to their birth certificates these Indian children do not get to enter even primary schools.

Since January 2008 UMNO sent an official written directive to all Tamil schools prohibiting the Tamil school headmasters from admintting Indian children without birth certificates into Tamil school. Some Tamil school headmasters prior to January 2008 took pity on these children and admitted them to their Tamil schools. Let alone that they cannot get skills training institutions, Universities, cannot open a bank account, they cannot even get an unskilled security guard’s job, cannot get motorcycle or car license and worst still cannot get married. And the cycle goes on when their children are born because their parents in the first place did not have birth certificates.

All these atrocities only under UMNO Prime Minister Najib’s One Malaysia!
