1st Hindraf National Convention demands ‘rights not mercy’, from UMNO led Malay-sian government.![]()
K.L 8/8/2010. Hindraf creates another major history yet again after the 25th November 2007 Hindraf Rally. Despite being declared an outlawed movement, Hindraf defied and successfully held its very first official convention right under the nose of the neo colonialist UMNO regime, said Hindraf Chairman now living in exile in London via teleconference and aired live to some 400 participants present at the Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall in Kuala Lumpur. P.Waythamoorthy further said Hindraf is and has always been legal and lawful by virtue of Article 10 of the Federal Constitution and that the UMNO regime cannot wipe out Hindraf as long as the genuine grievences of the even sixth generation poor Indians are denied even the very basic necessities, said P.Waythamoorthy to a round of from the heart handclap.
P.Uthayakumar declared the UMNO controlled Malaysian government as the The Enemy of the Malay-sian Indians.
P.Uthayakumar said that by virtue of the second limb of Article 153(1) the UMNO regime has no right to marginalize, oppress, suppress and segregate even the up to the sixth generation Malaysian Indians to the point of “ethnically cleansing” them. With the latest example being three (3) days ago on 5/8/10 when the UMNO bulldozers was about to bulldoze the 200 year old Bukit Jalil Estate, the very last in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian Indian Hindu estate settlement, their Hindu temple, Hindu cemetery and their Tamil school. Only with the scores of the Orange Power cadres including P.Uthayakumar at the front lines and maintaining a blockade and ready to resist, did UMNO back off.
Just sixteen hours prior to 5/8/10, UMNO had via their 8.00p.m prime time news on TV and radio announced that they
would demolish (“ethnically cleanse”) and called them (Bkt Jalai Estate residents) squatters but the very morning after seeing the Hindraf orange power again on the frontlines, UMNO backed off on and now acknowledge these estate workers as plantation workers and not squatters, and in fact cancelled all eviction notices issued under the Emergency Ordinance (when Malaysia has even some 40 years ago ceased to be in a state of emergency.
Finally Uthayakumar reiterated that the only forward moving way was HRP’s Project 15/38 ie the creation of 15 Parliamentary and 38 Indian majority Parliament and state seats from the 1.2 million Indian voters in Malaysia to create political power to propel the Malaysian Indians forward in the general Indian public interest.
In his speech Uthayakumar said that UMNO was forced to create 11 Indian based parties ie 1)MIC, 2)PPP, 3)IPF, 4)MUIP, 5)MMSP, 6)MCC, 7)KIMMA, 8)PPP (Punjabi), 9)MIJP, 10)Mindraf and finally Parti Satu Malaysia in their attempt to kill off Hindraf and HRP, the only Indian based Opposition Party in Malaysia.
Under Ops Padam Hindraf UMNO’s police special branch allocated millions and in fact unlimited funds thereafter, created and planted one E3M Special Branch agent ASP Vasantha Kumar into Hindraf in their Operational Warfare, created MMSP and used the Tamil Dailies, TV and Radio to create confusion, tried to divide and break up Hindraf. When ab initio (from the very beginning) there was only one Hindraf leader now UMNO created five Hindraf leaders including ASP Vasantha Kumar when there is only 1 UMNO President, 1 BN Chairman, 1 Malaysian Prime Minister but 5 Hindraf leaders to create confusion, divide and breakup Hindraf. But three years down the line today we are still around and present at this hall, stronger and more resolute than before!
P.Uthayakumar also acknowledged the role of the tamil dailies and called on the Home Ministry’s KDN Indian Department not to direct them to pit one Indian against another to cause confusion, division and break the Indians up. Uthayakumar called on all the three Tamil dailies to devote two full pages every day on the basic necessity IC, BC, Indian poor, Indians denied licences and business opportunities, higher education opportunities, local and overseas scholarships, dilapidated Tamil school conditions and they being arbitrarily relocated, demolishment of Hindu cemeteries, temples, Indian settlements and Hindus being forced to convert to Islam, forced circumcision and freedom of religion to remain or become a Hindu etc.
And that the presently simmering Hindraf spirits would erupt again at the right time ie the 2012/2013 general elections.
The other speakers who spoke were :-
Mr. N.Ganesan, Hindraf /HRP National Advisor and Mr.W.Sambulingam, Hindraf National Coordinator on the future directions of Hindraf and HRP.
Mr.K.Tamilselvan, Organising Chairman/ Coordinator, Hindraf/HRP Selangor on Denial of Education and Scholarships for top and high achieving Indian students.

Mr.K.Kalaiselvam, Coordinator, Hindraf/HRP Penang on the dilapidated state of Tamil Schools in Malaysia.
Mr.R.Ramesh, Coordinator, Hindraf/HRP Perak on even sixth generation Indians being denied Birth Certificates and Identity cards and rendered stateless.
Mr.S.Sivakumar, Coordinator, Hindraf/HRP N.Sembilan on Indian civil servants reduced from 70% to 1% and with no or very little promotion prospects.
Mr.Y.Mohan, Coordinator, Hindraf/HRP Johor on Denial of Licence, Loans and Business Opportunities for Indians.
Mr.S.Jayathas, Hindraf/HRP National Information Coordinator on the HRP & Hindraf SMS, Website, word of mouth campaigns and creating the Hindraf & HRP newspaper.
The overseas Hindraf Co-ordinaters who addressed the Convention live via tele- conferencing were:
Mrs Pathma (Hindraf United Kingdom Coordinator)
Mr Rajesh Gogna (Chairman, Federation of Human Rights Organization and Coordinator for India)
R.Shan (Hindraf International Coordinator based in New York)
Mr. Bhuvan (Los Angeles Hindraf Coordinator)
Mr.Saravanan (Belgium Hindraf Coordinator)
Mr.Balan Chelliah (Geneva Hindraf Coordinator)
In his winding up address, Uthayakumar noted that unlike for the other “cari makan” political parties and NGOs’ about 99% of the Hindraf tele-delegates not only stayed back but were in upbeat mood right up to 6.00 p.m from 9.00 a.m. He noted that all the speakers not only spoke but spoke backed up with facts and figures and by way of a slide show projector presentation Uthayakumar announced that today he saw many future ADUNS and MPs’ in action who did not do the usual “politicking” or “kosong wayang kulit” politics like most other MIC, PKR, DAP and PAS MPs’ and ADUNs but without fear or favour spoke out on the real and critical Indian problems.
Uthayakumar announced that as Buntong in Perak created history by becoming the first Indian majority seat in Malaysia with 54% Indian voters from 46.2% in the
March 2008 general elections, this would create domino effect on HRP’s Project 15/38.
When Pakatan Rakyat won and ruled Perak with only two seats majority in the 2008 general elections, now with this mere one seat of Buntong alone HRP will be the deciding factor on whether PR or B.N. rules in Perak based on the said 2008 general elections results. This is when HRP will put their foot down, secure in writing from PR, DAP, PAS and PKR on their fulfilling Hindraf’s 18 Point Demands and pledge the HRP support accordingly. (This was what exactly the tiny Liberal Party did just three months ago in the British general elections when the Labour party was booted out and the Conservative Party coming to power with the support of the Liberal Party.
The jewel on the Hindraf crown or the icing on the Hindraf cake was that this whole proceedings was broadcast live for all in Malaysia and worldwide supporters especially from Belgium, London, Geneva, New York, Los Angeles, Australia and India to follow this day long proceedings.
