Sarojini a/p Vanathia single mum of the three siblings who have been placed at Rumah Kebajikan Kanak kanak Taman Bakti Seberang Jaya come to HRP/HINDRAf office yesterday seeking help.

At the press conference at the HRP office yesterday afternoon, Sarojini, a single mother of six teenage children, with the youngest still drinking milk made a desperate plea, cried out heart that she wants to be reunited with her three children who had been forcibly snatched away by the UMNO welfare department. Sarojini had no one to speak up for her and was forced to travel to the HRP HQ in Kuala Lumpur to highlight her plight.

P. Uthayakumar had telephoned the District Welfare Officer En. Mohamad and asked for the release of these three children back to Sarojini or HRP would be left with no alternative but to appeal to the Alor Setar High Court Judge. (See Tamil Nesan & Makkal Osai 20/08/2010 at front page).

It is absurd that the UMNO led government has decided to  snatch away and “detain” her 3 children under the welfare care. The social welfare department of Malaysia established in 1964, has gone through many transformations but in essence its role towards children taken into their care are those have been abused, discriminated, exploited & orphaned is racist and religious extremist.

Although the government is a party to The Convention on the Rights of the Child ( CRC ) 1994, they seem to have breached their consensus whereby rather then keeping the family together and provide them the monthly welfare allowance, UMNO would rather separate the family in the pretext of caring for this family.

Ever since this case has been highlighted in June 2010, till todate the Welfare Department has failed to pay them a single cent. How could you expect the single mum of 6 kids to survive without any financial assistance? Her youngest infant is only 3 mths old.

HRP/HINDRAF were told that, all the three kids placed at the Rumah Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Taman Bakti has refuse to consume any food as they misses their mum and siblings very much. After hearing the kids cry, the mum being helpless came to HRP/HINDRAF to secure /unite the kids with her. “I will common suicide if my kids are not united to me immediately”, is the cry and plead of the poor single mother.

Sarojini been a muslim mum, Tabung Haji, Yayasan Pembasmi Kemiskinan, Lembaga Urus Zakat, corporate, bodies banking and private sector could have extended the needful financial assistance.

HRP/HINDRAF fears the risk this kids Yogeswari, Nageswari & Gangadevi who might be converted into muslim as what happened to Bangarama & Darshini (See latter and Birth certificate below). This poor kids will not be aware of the conversion till and when they get married and at that point of time it will be a bombshell to them.

HRP/HINDRAF Women’s Wing urges the 1 Malay-sia Prime Minister, and the Ministry Of Woman and Community Development to immediately unite the kids with the mum. Its a total injustice placing them in the welfare home. Its merely imprisoning them. This is the height of cruelty.

The Welfare minister should allocate a home, financial assistance and other allocations provided for in the RM 850 million social Safety Net national budget.

The solution to her problem should have been paying her RM 100 per kid/per month, (RM 600 for six kids) RM 200 for the mum to be allocated immediately by the Welfare Dept. This would assist the family to have enough food on their table. Not detaining her children.

What is preventing the Welfare Ministry to immediately give them the financial assistance to resolve the immediate problem? Has this ever happen to the Malays, Chinese, Orang asli, Kadazans and the Ibans? The answer in an emphatic NO! It merely happens to the Indians in Malaysia. What is 1 Malaysia then?

The permanent solution to this is, the UMNO led government should grant this family a 10 acre land ownership scheme as in FELDA, FELCRA, FARMA, MARDI, RISDA, ARGOPOLITAN Schemes, the 13 state land development schemes, as has been given to 442,000 Malay muslims. ( BH 25/2/2010 at Pg 4 )

HRP: Indian Mother’s misery by UMNO Welfare Department snatching her 3 children. Despite this very cruel forced separation of this mother from her child neither UMNO/BN or PKR, DAP, PAS and any NGO cared. If this victim had been a Malay then it would matter. None of the racist UMNO mainstream media or even the supposedly alternative media covered this P.C as the victims are merely the Indian poor.

Sarojini, needs her rights, and not mercy, from UMNO ie the RM 600 plus RM 200 per month welfare help allocated from the RM 850 million 2010 Budget allocation in the interim. And a 10 acre Felda-like land ownership schemes as a permanent solution. Even the PAS Kedah state government denied welfare help to this poor Indian family.

Note: 1. RM 130 housing allowance to be given by the Housing   Minisrty for those who earn RM 720 and below ( UM 26/6/08 pg 2 )

2. RM 720 and below earning per/mth, falls under the poverty line and welfare aid of RM 400 shall be given as reported in NST 29/3/09.

3. Malay muslim OKU to receive welfare assistance of RM 350/per month but this family is denied the UMNO welfare help. (UM 10/8/10)
