The Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said many estate workers had worked for several generations and they might have to move elsewhere when they retired.
He added that the state authorities decided to allocate land to build the houses for the workers after consulting the management of several estates.
The houses would be sold to them when they retired, he said after meeting estate workers at Tenang Estate in Labis on Sunday.
