This morning the Court of appeal at Putrajaya adjourned proceedings in P. Uthayakumar’s unlawful detention appeal as Judge Suriyadi Halim Omar had recused himself. This Judge had in 2004 dismissed the criminal  intimidation charges as being groundless according to Section 173 (g) (of a policeman inside Court by P. Uthayakumar). The racist UMNO AG Gani Patail’s DPP Noorin Badaruddin objected to Judge Suriyadi hearing this Appeal by the A.G.

In October 2010 Kuala Lumpur High Court Judge had awarded RM 145,000 as damages for the 2003 unlawful detention and serial arrests by the Sepang, Dang Wangi and Campbell police. Uthayakumar was in 2003 arrested right outside the Sepang Magistrates Court after the Inquest of S. Tharmarajan (19) who was killed in police custody.

P.Uthayakumar and his lawyer Manoharan Malayalam were present at the Court of Appeal  this morning. The matter was the adjourned by judge Low Hop Bing also sitting with Alizatul to another date to be determined.
