Surjya Sen was born on March 22, 1894 in Chittagong
There is now a Hindi movie showing in Astro, KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY featuring Abishek Bachan as Suryja Sen, an Indian independence revolutionary. This story is about a group of 60 or so teenagers led by a teacher who lost their lives and freedom in the struggle they waged for the independence of India in pre-Independence Chittagong April 1930.
One can ask what was the point of their struggle when they all lost their lives and their freedom during that struggle.
But here is the wisdom – with their fearless actions and great personal sacrifice, they inspired all the rest of India into action that finally culminated in the independence of India in 1947. They did win finally but not during their period of struggle. They were a small group – but a group who was brave enough not to let their size deter them from action. Their smallness did not mean powerlessness.. With their actions they contributed to something very, very large.
Sometimes the things we do are counterintuitive. These counterintuitive actions are a result of a clarity based on truth and justice. New worlds are won only with such vision.
We in Hindraf and HRP do have such a vision. If we can understand what is in the hearts of the people whose interests we seek to promote, and we can articulate these inner thoughts and feelings boldly in our actions, our power far far exceeds that suggested by our numbers.
Please all try and watch this movie and then come and join us in our struggle to retrieve our lost rights.
