Kuala Kubu Baru Forum on Sunday 11/11/2007 @ 8. 00p. m.

Tamil Selvam of Kuala Kubu Baru (KKB) was a rather quiet and reserved personality. Like most other Hindraf supporters, Selvam was one of those who had called us and then came to see us. Waytha Moorthy on one of the Fridays when he was driving back after work from the legal firm he was working for in Ipoh dropped by to meet Selvam and his Kuala Kubu Baru Hindraf committee members at Selvam’s house in Rawang. About 30 people attended this meeting. Before agreeing to give a date to organise a local forum, we normally ask to see the organising committee of at least ten to fifteen people. We don’t give them a date otherwise. Selvam was keen in organising a forum in Rawang/KKB but we did not have any weekend dates before the 25th day of November 2007. But Selvam and his people insisted on one. The only date we had was the 11th day of November 2007, that was the Sunday immediately after Deepavali which fell on a Thursday. As Selvam insisted on this date, we then decided to turn it into a Deepavali get together cum forum thinking that we could get people to turn up that way. We had cautioned Selvam of a possible poor turnout as people would still be in the Deepavali mood. On hindsight it was not quite a good decision as the turnout was poor on that day. We should have decided on another date. But another date would mean after the 25th day of November 2007 Rally.
