Permanent post for 13,000 (Malay muslim) teachers. But 1552 Tamil school temporary teachers denied Graduate Teacher Training opportunities.
We refer to the above mentioned matter and to the news report in (see NST 27/7/2011 at page 2 ) that 13,000 untrained temporary (Malay muslim) teachers will be absorbed into permanent posts and will be sent to Teacher Training Institutes and to attend courses during school holidays.
It was further reported that 107 (Malay muslim) KEMAS kindergarten teachers got to do their Diplomas from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). (see UM 27/7/2011 at page 27). Logically when kindergarten teachers are sent to further their Diploma training then Tamil primary school untrained temporary teachers should be sent for the Graduate Teacher Training courses which was denied to the 1,552 Tamil school teachers (TN 5/1/09 front page) which directly violates Article 8 of the Federal Constitution which provides for equality before the law and Article 12 of the same which provides that there shall be no discrimination in educational institutions which receives government financial assistance.
We hereby call upon your goodselves to grant equal opportunities to all these 1,552 Tamil school temporary teachers and for them to be absorbed and trained to become graduate teachers by sending them to the Teacher Training Universities and Institutions and on courses including during the school holiday courses (KDC) and provide to them with not only with their full salary but also an additional RM1,000 over and above their full salary as allowance.
Why not especially when 1,300 (Malay muslim) even Permata Kindergarten teachers have been sent to Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris, Tanjung Malim to be trained as graduate teachers. (see The Star 25/4/2011 at page N 37)
These our aforesaid proposals are certainly in line with and not derogating from Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib Razak’s One Malaysia policy and so that in four years time by the year 2015 all of the 523 Tamil schools teaching and learning standards will become on par with the teaching and learning standards in all Malay and Chinese schools.

Kindly revert to us accordingly.
Thank You.
Yours Faithfully,
