In 1962 Rajaretnam Govindasamy as a teenager worked as a wharf worker @ RM 4.20 for 8 hours work (1963).
My late father Ponnusamy Arunasalam had told us that he had started working at the age of 14 as a “coal boy” in the 1940s. His main duties was throwing coal with a shovel into the steam engine locomotives. It was the 3D jobs ie Dirty, Difficult and Dangerous jobs.
Now fast forward 54 years of Independence, today Indian poor teenage children presumably school dropouts, never went to school and denied the thousands of UMNO MARA skills Training Colleges, Giat Mara etc are still seen working as dishwashers and restaurant helpers at Chinese restaurants in Sitiawan, Penang, Kuala Lumpur etc.
We have also seen similar teenage Indian boys working as runner boys at Chinese car and motorcycle workshops and petrol stations, Indian restaurants etc nationwide.
But even after 54 years of independence even the very basic skills training is denied to these youths under the UMNO 1 Malay-sia racist, facist and supremacist agenda. So that these Indian teenagers and youths can be continuous and cheap labour supply on par if not lower than the foreign workers.
This is our fight with UMNO. This is our struggle to end Malay-sia UMNO racism, the world’s most racist country.
Rights not Mercy.
