Meant for Karpal Singh’s ears

There was the debate that there was no “ethnic cleansing” in Malaysia. To start of with I had never suggested that there was ethnic cleansing in Malaysia a la Bosnia, Darfur or Rwanda. Even my own lawyer at the ISA hearing and DAP Chairman Karpal Singh had made a media statement that there was no ethnic cleansing in Malaysia. In my submissions to the puppet shadow play “wayang kulit” ISA review Board at the Kemta Prison (which is merely another UMNO rubber stamp and which is way off and no near a Judicial body) and which was also meant for Karpal’s ears,

I had explained in detail that the unprovoked Kampung Medan Racial attacks on the innocent Indians who were going about their daily lives alone amounted to “ethnic cleansing” as only Indians were targetted, singled out, violently attacked, killed and many became permanently maimed after being attacked by groups of malay muslims from outside Kampung Medan and mostly in broad daylight and in the full view of the police. The Indians were singled out, attacked, injured, killed or maimed for fifteen days in a row and this was done with impunity. There was no or very little police and state protection for this Indian minority community. The hundreds of pages of write up and gory pictures of the victims would speak for themselves. Five Indians were killed and about one hundred others were  seriously injured in what is believed to be state and/or UMNO sponsored “mini genocide” of the Indians in Kampung Medan. If this does not amount to “ethnic cleansing” a la Malaysia, what else is “ethnic cleansing” a la Malaysia!

Even now I challenge UMNO to explain this Kampung Medan tragedy which they have backed out in a cowardly fashion in all these eight (8) years. Even PAS, PKR, DAP or the Malaysian NGOs and civil society did not back us up in this “ethnic cleansing” allegations against UMNO again as it involved “merely the Indian victims”.
