The Malaysia Nanban today 3/11/11 at page 9 reported that it has been 10 years since the Jeram Tamil school in Kuantan has been forced to operate on a temporary basis from steel shipping cabins.

Regretfully all this is happening in 54 years of independent 1 Malay-sia, the country with the world’s tallest Twin Towers but where only it’s tiny vulnerable Indian minority are being forced to study in steel shipping cabins basement, upstairs, shophouse and white ant infested colonial wooden structures etc.

And The Star today 3/11/2011 at page 18 reported “Govt to improve Tamil schools”. Why only now and that too merely “to improve” after 54 long years of independence from British colonialism? Why? Neo colonialism? Lack of political will? Racism? Or plain bully of a helpless tiny minority community?

As as if to add insult to injury the aforesaid newsreports opening paragraph reads “The government wants to see the 500 Tamil vernacular schools in the country on par with Chinese vernacular and national schools”. Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the Government has always been fair in its emphasis on developing the schools regardless of their type. “We will look into the appropriate steps under the Education National Key Results Area (NKRA) to ensure that all schools are fully equipped in terms of facilities and well-trained teachers”. He added that the foundation of a developed nation is an educated human capital. “An educated and highly skilled society is fundamental to ensure that Malaysia reach developed and high-income status by 2020.”

But why the vulnerable Tamil schools being segregated? NKRA? Educated and highly skilled society? High Income by 2020? Rubbish! All but plain bi racial UMNO 1 Malay-sian racism!

And The Star also reported on the usual wayang kulit cosmetic exercise of 185 top Tamil schools students given “excellence awards” but never equality and equal opportunities to education in particular in admission to Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM), JPA scholarships, the 200,000 places in UITM critical courses in local universities etc etc. Why? 1 Malay-sia?

And now after 54 long years the UMNO DPM and Education Minister is saying “his ministry would complete it’s study on Tamil schools.”
As if not wanting to be outdone, the addressing of Tamil school problems on an ad hoc and piecemeal basis culture has also been conveniently emulated by the Pakatan Rakyat ruled states of Kedah, Penang and Selangor. “PKR Selangor grants “allocations to build three  Tamil schools” (FMT 2/11/11). But why not permanent land titles to all 98, 54 and 28 Tamil schools in Selangor, Kedah and Penang respectively all in one go, as opposed to the a la UMNO “Tamil school land here and land there” kosong Tamil dailies propaganda using their Indian mandores?

PR pushing buck to UMNO/BN

And UMNO/BN in turn is pushing the buck back to PKR, DAP and PAS saying that a minimum of 5 acres of land is needed in order to start building new school blocks and additional school buildings! For up to 2,000 and 1,400 pupils at the cramped up Simpang Lima and Batu Ampat, Selangor schools respectively?

But PKR, DAP & PAS at their end of the latest short changing and bullying the Indian poor among others grant a mere”-

1)    2.74 acres for the Batu Ampat Tamil School, Selangor
2)    1.5 acres for the Simpang Lima (Dua) Tamil School, Selangor
3)    1.5 acres for the Seafield Tamil School, Selangor
4)    0.9 acres to world’s only basement Assad Tamil school in Penang
5)    Zero acres to the 5,000 Indians in Desa Mentari Bandar Sunway proposed Tamil school
6)    Zero acres to any Tamil school in Kedah.

What a wonderful way to undo the 50 years of UMNO injustices! Give a few schools some tiny land but not enough land to qualify as a federal fully assisted school.
