Indian poor: Lim Kit Siang guilty by omission
At a round table meeting at Parliament house in 2003 I raised the same concerns. The longest standing Opposition leader in Parliament, Lim Kit Siang who had been one of the early personalities who had moved me to question UMNOs’ injustices lamented that my statement was “hurting” but never took up seriously the very critical Indian problems I had raised thereafter.
I had dinner with Dato Marimuthu of Fomca. He said he cannot be seen to be championing Indian issues “as his Fomca is multi racial”, a very convenient excuse many other Indian Opposition parties and NGOs’ take. I have complained on repeated occasions to S. Manickavasagam the now PKR Kapar Member of Parliament and Parti Keadilan Rakyat Supreme Council Member. He concedes that he cannot bring up these critical Indian problemss to Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, or the PKR Supreme Council meetings for further action for obvious reasons. Hundred over letters and/or copies of letters, memorandum et-cetera and running into thousands of pages to the UMNO controlled government had been sent to Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Adviser of PKR, Lim Kit Siang, Adviser of DAP and Haji Hadi Awang President of PAS but to no avail. They don’t even acknowledge receipt of our letters memorandums et-cetera let alone seriously taking up and addressing those issues which UMNO at least had acknowledged on very rare occasions.
