Candle Light vigil outside Pudu Jail

From inside the Pudu prison I could hear the Hindraf supporters shouts of Hindu samayam “valga” and “Hindraf valga”. I was later told that about 500 people had gathered at the candle light vigil for my release outside Pudu Jail. This was another first. This candle light culture which has been alien to the Indians in Malaysia has now become a norm. There had been many more candle light vigils thereafter. At Pudu Jail I got to watch the 8.00 p.m. TV 3 prime news bulletin as I was still in the main police station lobby area. At the Pudu Jail police station my statement was recorded, my finger prints and photographs were taken. As usual I refused to look into the camera lens. I was later informed that the Hindraf supporters were chanting right up to about 12.00 p.m. with the FRU on standby. I was then taken away to the Pudu Jail processing office. I had to surrender all my personal belongings to the personnel on duty and an inventory was made. I was given a set of prison clothes after which I was put in the prison lock up at about 10.30pm. The cell measured about eight feet by 10 feet, dimly lit and with about two feet thick black and dirty walls and a small grilled air well of about one feet by eight inches or so.
