Media Statement: Hindraf does not support ABU. Hindraf supporters advised not to attend ABU forums.

This morning 25.1.2012 an emergency five (5) member Hindraf Supreme Council meeting at the Hindraf Headquarters at Bangsar which was chaired by Hindraf de facto leader and legal advisor  P.Uthayakumar made the following decisions :-

1)   While Hindraf wishes to see an end to the evil UMNO rule in Putrajaya continuously  for 55 long years without a break in the chain, we do not wish to see UMNO racism targeted especially against the Indian poor being replaced by UMNO No. 2 at Putrajaya.

2) Hindraf does not support ABU, but supports ABUR ie Anything But UMNO and Pakatan Rakyat Racism.

3) Hindraf supporters nationwide are advised not to attend any future ABU forums planned nationwide especially in the light of the violent attack on Hindraf supporters at Jalan Kebun, Shah Alam on 21/1/2012 where at least one Hindraf supporter was hospitalised and many others physically attacked.

4) Hindraf would support Pakatan Rakyat in the next general elections when Pakatan Rakyat officially endorses in writing to HRP/Hindraf that Pakatan endorses Hindraf’s 18 Point Demands dated 12/8/2007, end all forms of state sponsored institutionalized and private sector racism targeting especially the Indian poor, and that Pakatan Rakyat would implement the Hindraf 18 Point Demands when it takes over Putrajaya.

5) The aforesaid decision was also made in the light of the ABU forum on 21.1.2012, the video clip of the same and after which we have been receiving numerous telephone calls on not only the assault, humiliation to the Hindraf supporters, racial slurs like ‘keling’ being used by the UMNO Malay muslim mob and death threats, as well as unconfirmed information on future violence,disruptions and assault. PAS, PKR, DAP, PAKATAN and ABU did not provide sufficient safety and security for the Hindraf attendees and which was silently watched over by no less than a senior leader of PAS, PKR, PAKATAN and ABU leaders, who were seated right on stage and no public condemnation of the same immediately thereafter.

6) Hindraf will continue speaking up without fear or favour for especially for the Indian poor without regard to whether it is UMNO/BN or Pakatan Rakyat.

7) Hindraf will never allow itself to become blind supporters of both UMNO/BN or PKR, DAP, PAS, Pakatan Rakyat for that matter.

Finally Hindraf will not allow ABU, BERSIH, PAKATAN RAKYAT or any party to make use of Hindraf for their personal agenda, fame or glory, personal or political agenda.
