Re : 60% (when 8% of population) or 21,600 Indians in 1 Malay-sian prisons because denied proper jobs, business & license opportunities

Guna, a kachang putih seller Indian youth we met in Klang, Off Tengku Kelana Road recently was denied even a kacang putih license to operate from his van by the Pakatan Rakyat ruled Selangor State government. And he told us that he had already been served with scores of summons by the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) and that at any time his kacang putih van may be confiscated by the MPK. He was doing his business on a day to day basis and living in fear.This is hardworing Guna’s second job. When we met Guna, he point bluntly told us that if his kacang putih van is confiscated he would then be forced to resort to gold chain snatching!

This is just the tip of the iceberg of hundreds of thousands of other up to the sixth generation Malaysian born Indian poor denied proper jobs, business & license opportunities. The Malays and even hundreds of thousands of illegal Indonesians are allowed to set up mostly food and other stalls and petty trading outlets almost anywhere they like. In Kuala Lumpur alone there are some 40,800 Indonesian and other foreign muslim illegals running petty trading businesses (BH 27/6/12 at page E1). They look Malay and further get away by their dawning a haji skull cap or a tudung. Kg Kerinchi, Chow Kit or Kg Baru sees all these happenings. (Needless to mention the Chinese who control some 60% of the Malaysian economy).

But at the entrance to the Kg Kerinchi flats area and right outside the car wash slip road an elderly Indian lady put up a canned and bottled drinks stall but it was

confiscated the UMNO/B.N ruled by DBKL within days. And she probably has already ended up doing one of the 3D ie Dirty, Difficult, Dangerous jobs as if the same is reserved and preserved for the Indian poor. This is yet another tip of the iceberg plight of the Indian poor.

Some 5,000 enterprising Indian poor have been denied even scrap metal business licenses and remain at the absolute mercy of the police and local authority enforcement authorities who either coerce them to pay bribes, issue scores of Summons or confiscate their outlets and close down their petty trading business for good as done to S. Thiagarajan in Cheras. And only to be replaced by a Malay food stall operator at the exact spot where Thiagarajan had his scrap metal outlet.

The oven hot latest reported instance reported in to today’s Utusan Malaysia Business page (3/7/12) at page 17 is that there are 1,000 Petronas outlets nationwide but zero opportunities given to even 1 qualified Indian in 1 Malay-sia.

99% of the hundreds of thousands of lucrative highway rest area, shops, Local Council stalls and stalls at Train, LRT and bus stations and prime business slots are for Malays only. Denying the Indian poor equal rights and equal upward mobility opportunities also in the private sector, in getting proper jobs, licences and business opportunities, they are forced into if not easily lured into crime.

Kandaraju of Morib was forced to close down his lorry transport business as the Chinese capitalist controlled business either don’t give Indians the jobs, preferring Chinese lorry transport companies with almost all being Indian lorry drivers. Or pay them for lower pittence than they pay the Chinese transport companies. Raju was then lured into becoming a lorry hijacker and the last we saw him at the Jalan Duta Courts waiting to be convicted and making up the 21,600 Indian poor prisoners statistics.

We recall even the then deputy K.L City Police Chief SAC Syed Abdul Rahman way back in the early 1990s was reported to have stated that not having proper jobs and denied business opportunities is one of the main reasons for the increasing crime rate among the Indian poor. Way back vide our 2003 Memorandum to the 1 Malay-sian government at the height of Indian youths being killed in police custody cases, we had highlighted the new and emerging Indian criminal underclass forming some 60% of the 1 Malay-sian prisoners, completely disproportionate to the mere 8% being their population. But as the victims were the vulnerable Indian poor their plight was left unchecked.

And our concerns of some 21,600 Indian prisoners out of the 36,000 prisoners in 1 Malay-sia jails (Berita Harian 4/7/2012 at page 6) is of grave concern to us as the same will also have a spillover effect on some 100,000 of their family members who also end up in misery with the sole bread winner in jail and the daily compounding Indian criminal underclass problem on red alert today.

Ending the UMNO 1 Malay-sian state sponsored racism and the private sector racism is the only way forward to the genuine and real very much touted 1 Malaysia.
